Thank you for your interest in Netiya’s educational workshops!  This chart lists our current fee-for-service offerings.  Pricing changes based on location, materials needed, prep time, and number of people participating in your event.  Please fill out This Form which will help us understand what you need and give us enough information to give you a quote.  We understand that everyone is on a budget, especially non-profit organizations.  If you need a discount, let us know and we will do our best to work with you.

DIY-YIDThe Torah of Pickling: A Garden to Table Course (1hr class meets 6 times) A series of DIY food crafting workshops. Harvest from the garden, make something you can enjoy/donate. Harvest and learn a Tradition Older Than Cooking: Preserving! Many items can be pickled when they are abundantly in season and will last for weeks in the refrigerator. Go home with a jar of lacto-fermented seasonal produce and learn traditional and versatile Jewish techniques that you can apply year-round to avoid wasting food at your home, congregation, or faith-based school/organization.
Cooking Garden Food Out of the Box (1hr) Belong to a CSA program (or want to?) but too often feel at a loss when you get your box home and look inside? On a reduced budget, how can you make the most delicious and healthy food? Easy recipes will be provided, plus techniques that can turn a pile of greens into a delicious main dish suitable even for guests. Demo plus meal!
Seedlings Sprout! Parent & Me: Urban Homesteading! (1hr, 4xs) Join us to build your Little One’s confidence to connect to self and to earth.  Sessions will build character, skills, and knowledge that you can bring home to your own garden and kitchen!  Snack on garden-sourced, kid-inspired culinary treats! Parents and Little Ones will leave with an understanding of where our food comes from, and how to grow it and how to compost. Seed-to-Table philosophies that encourage play, exploration and hands-on learning. It’s a 4-part series of fun in the sun.
Plant Fruit Trees! Sustainable Orchard Culture We’ll troubleshoot your orchard challenges and explore how to grow more nutrient-dense fruits. We’ll cover the importance of pruning and integrated pest control as well as mulching, applying compost, and compost tea to improve the overall health of trees at your congregation.

*Planting your Garden, Growing Soil (water conservation, irrigation. Direct sowing & transplanting. Propagation) Polyculture: Introduction to food plants and seasonal gardening)

*Cultivating your Garden (Integrated Pest Control)

*Harvesting, Preserving and Tithing your Garden

Compost Build: Soup to Nuts Community Workshop at your Congregation (2hrs) Why grow an institutional-scale compost system?! The sustainability of your garden depends on instituting practices to keep your garden resilient. Perhaps your 3rd grade runs the vermicompost (worms) we build. Maybe your sisterhood collects kitchen and garden scraps. Link your facilities to your landscape ecologically and holistically. Together we’ll find ways to make composting work for your institution.  This build is a powerful community-wide ritual / experiential learning that results in an educational compost site.
Grow Microgreens! This is a 15 min. hands-on segment designed to be repeated at your Fair/Festival
Engaged Stewardship This workshop is a deep dive celebration of the essence of shmita, taking a Sabbatical year for the land, for the community, and for the soul that our elders practiced once every 7 years, and is being revitalized around the world today.
